Top 15 players part of WNBA's 15th season
NEW YORK (AP) - The WNBA will celebrate its 15th season by selecting its top 15 players and greatest moments. The players will be announced the week of the All-Star game, held July 23 in San Antonio.
NBA Commissioner David Stern called this a “significant milestone” and said the league remains the “destination for the greatest women basketball players in the world.” Stern started the league in 1997, and Val Ackerman was the first WNBA president.
The WNBA also said Tuesday that ESPN2 on June 21 will broadcast a rematch of the inaugural game between the New York Liberty and Los Angeles Sparks. The game at the Staples Center will feature Sparks star Candace Parker, who missed most of last season with a shoulder injury.
