Silver Stars GM Hughes resumes dual role as coach
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio Silver Stars general manager Dan Hughes is resuming his dual role as head coach.
Hughes said Saturday he is excited to coach again after stepping down last season to focus on the front office. The Silver Stars fired coach Sandy Brondello last fall after going 14-20 in her first season.
Hughes has taken the Silver Stars to the playoffs three times in five seasons, including the WNBA Finals in 2008.
R.C. Buford, president of sports franchises for Spurs Sports&Entertainment, said the franchise looked to Hughes because of his previous success.
The WNBA season begins in June.
