Devils call up D Jay Leach from AHL Albany
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The New Jersey Devils have called up defenseman Jay Leach from the minors to restock a banged-up blue line for their game at Buffalo.
Leach was called up from Albany of the American Hockey League on Saturday, a day after the Devils lost Colin White and Anton Volchenkov to injuries in a 1-0 shootout loss at Pittsburgh. Both White and Volchenkov are listed as day to day in having what the team calls lower body injuries.
Leach was acquired by New Jersey in a trade with San Jose last month. He's not appeared in the NHL since last season, when he played in 28 games with the Sharks.
The Devils entered the game Saturday 12th in the Eastern Conference and 10 points behind eighth-place Buffalo with two weeks left in the season.
