Canucks re-sign RW Hansen after arbitration award

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -The Canucks have re-signed Jannik Hansen after the speedy forward was awarded a one-year, $825,000 contract in arbitration.

The contract announced Thursday puts the Canucks more than $1 million over the NHL's $59.4 million salary cap.

Hansen, 24, had nine goals and 15 points in 47 games last season while making $550,000 on a deal that included a minor-league clause for a much lower salary. He received a raise and a one-way contract after an arbitration hearing on Tuesday.

The right winger, chosen with the No. 287 pick in the 2004 draft, has 15 goals and 36 points in 107 NHL games with Vancouver.

Another arbitration hearing Monday for forward Mason Raymond, who had 25 goals and 53 points last season, is expected to put the Canucks well over the cap. Teams have until the day before the season to get down to the limit.
