Raiders hold Bush out of practice

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Running back Michael Bush was held out of practice Thursday but the Oakland Raiders remain optimistic he can play in this weekend's season-opener at Tennessee.

Bush, who underwent surgery on Aug. 30 to repair a broken thumb on his left hand, worked out with his teammates on Wednesday but was held out of all drills Thursday.

He came out to practice and helped as a defender during a blocking drill for the offensive line but spent the rest of the afternoon as a spectator.

Coach Tom Cable said Darren McFadden will pick up the additional carries if Bush is unable to play against the Titans on Sunday.
