Players try to pick up legal system on the fly
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Vikings linebacker Ben Leber is fluent in zone dog blitzes and cover 2 dropbacks.
When it comes to the legalese of the court system, however, that's another story. As the NFL labor fight moves from the mediation room to the court room, players are trying to learn the ins and outs of filing a lawsuit on the fly.
Leber says he will occasionally log on to legal websites to look up definitions for terms he's heard. Some players consult their agents and union representatives on the team to get an idea of where things stand.
Others trust the lawyers representing them to work through the legal muck, interpret the developments and keep them informed when it's necessary.
