Hardesty misses first Browns practice
BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Cleveland Browns second-round draft pick Montario Hardesty is a no-show for the team's first training camp workout.
The team did not immediately comment Saturday on the absence of Hardesty, who is expected to vie with Jerome Harrison to be the starting running back. Coach Eric Mangini is expected to discuss the former Tennessee player after practice.
Hardesty was one of the team's bright spots during summer workouts. The 59th overall pick signed a four-year deal and seemed prepared to battle Harrison for playing time.
Harrison is going into his sixth year. He had three consecutive 100-yard rushing games as the Browns won their last four games to finish 5-11 season last year.
