Ex-NFL star Taylor to get sex-offender designation
NEW CITY, N.Y. (AP) - The lawyer for a teenager at the center of Lawrence Taylor's sexual misconduct case says the girl will make an impact statement at the former football star's sentencing.
The 52-year-old ex-linebacker pleaded guilty in January to sexual misconduct and patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute. Under a plea deal, Taylor isn't expected to get jail time. Six years' probation is likely, but he also will have to register as a sex offender.
Taylor is being sentenced on Tuesday. The judge also will determine which sex-offender level to assign to Taylor.
Sex offenders are labeled Level 1, 2 or 3 for low, medium or high risk.
California lawyer Gloria Allred said outside court that she's representing the teenager. She declined to say whether she's filing a lawsuit.
