Tejada playing shortstop, batting 4th for Padres
SAN DIEGO (AP) -Miguel Tejada is back at shortstop and batting cleanup in his debut with the San Diego Padres.
Manager Bud Black wasted no time in plugging Tejada into a key spot in the lineup for the first-place Padres against the Florida Marlins on Friday night. Tejada was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.
Tejada says he's happy to be back at shortstop, his natural position. The 36-year-old played shortstop his entire career until this year, when he played third base with the Orioles.
The former AL MVP says it was great to wake up in first place. He went from the worst team in the majors to one that leads the NL West by 3 1/2 games over San Francisco.
