Pitcher Pedro Martinez to get Smithsonian portrait

WASHINGTON (AP) - A portrait of former All-Star baseball pitcher Pedro Martinez is being unveiled at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery.

Martinez, a former Cy Young award winner who won the World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, plans to be in Washington on Thursday for the unveiling at the museum. He'll also conduct a baseball mini-clinic and promote exercise for children.

Martinez, an eight-time All-Star, also pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Montreal Expos, the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.
