Mets C Paulino shut down over blood test concerns
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) - New York Mets backup catcher Ronny Paulino is being shut down for a couple days because of concerns over the results of blood tests.
Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Saturday that doctors want Paulino to not exercise until results come back from follow-up tests to the blood work he had done when he arrived at camp.
Paulino already was scheduled to miss the first eight games of the regular season to complete a 50-game suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs last year.
Alderson did not identify the doctors' concerns, but said they were not related to any other issues. He said Paulino feels fine.
