Astros SS Manzella among players optioned
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - The Houston Astros have optioned shortstop Tommy Manzella, pitcher Wesley Wright and outfielder Brian Bogusevic to their Triple-A Oklahoma City roster.
Also Thursday, the team reassigned catchers Brian Esposito and Robinson Cancel to their minor league camp.
Manzella, Houston's starting shortstop on opening day last season, hit .225 in 83 games. Cancel will remain with the major-league team until after their exhibition game in Houston next Wednesday.
