Penske Racing adds Meijer sponsorship to team
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) -Roger Penske's team is getting a new partner next season.
The team says Meijer, a Midwest retail store, will become an associate sponsor for Penske Racing and Coca-Cola, a key supplier for Meijer, also will play a bigger role on Penske's three-car team.
Meijer will be a major associate sponsor for Will Power's No. 12 car. The Australian won an IRL-best five races last season and finished second in points.
The store's logo also will appear on the cars driven by three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves, a Brazilian, and Ryan Briscoe, who also is from Australia.
Meijer and Penske Corporation both have headquarters in Michigan.
The racing team announced the deal on Wednesday.
