IndyCar making announcement on Las Vegas Strip
LAS VEGAS (AP) - IndyCar Series officials are making an announcement on the Las Vegas Strip, likely the addition of a season-ending race in Las Vegas in October.
The announcement Tuesday is expected to include several current drivers and IndyCar great Al Unser Jr., along with series officials.
The 16-race schedule is slated to start March 27 with the Honda Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, Fla. The final race of the season is scheduled for Oct. 16, two weeks after the Kentucky Indy 300 in Sparta.
IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard and other officials have been working for months to get a deal to race in Las Vegas.
