IndyCar close to chassis decision
The IndyCar Series is close to deciding on a new chassis package that could drastically change the future of open-wheel racing.
The final decision hasn't been made yet, though.
The series set a June 30 deadline to make a decision on the new chassis, but CEO Randy Bernard said Wednesday the seven-team ICONIC committee has yet to take a final vote. He said the decision is expected soon and the series will make an official announcement on July 14.
Delta Wing, Swift, Lola, BAT and current manufacturer Dallara have submitted proposals for the next generation of chassis.
IndyCar announced earlier this month that it was changing its engine strategy to include a variety of manufacturers and configurations for 2012.
