Hunter-Reay secures sponsorship for rest of season
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (AP) -Ryan Hunter-Reay has secured sponsorship for his No. 37 Andretti Autosports car for the rest of the IndyCar season.
A group led by series title sponsor Izod combined to fund the 29-year-old Floridian, who is quickly becoming the best American driver in the series. He was funded for only three races when the season began, but found backing to run each of the first eight events.
Others in the group include Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inland, AirTran Airways, Comfort Revolution, the Michael Fux Foundation, Exel, ICM-Ethanol USA.
The team also unveiled a charitable initiative called “Racing for Cancer.” The program will raise money for cancer research in honor of Hunter-Reay's mother, Lydia. She died of colon cancer in November.
