Undefeated Zenyatta works out for next start
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Undefeated Zenyatta ran six furlongs in 1:12.40 at Hollywood Park in preparation for her next start, set for August at Del Mar.
Trainer John Shirreffs said he was happy with the workout, which was completed Thursday at her home track.
The mare, who is 17-0 in her career, is expected to make her next start in the Clement L. Hirsch Stakes on Aug. 7. She's won the race the last two years.
Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith was aboard Zenyatta on Thursday and says it was one of her best workouts in a while.
