Terranova wins both stakes at Belmont
NEW YORK (AP) -Trainer John Terranova II sent out both winning odds-on favorites Sunday in the $100,000 divisions of the New York Stallion Stakes for 3-year-olds at Belmont Park.
General Maximus, the 4-5 favorite, rolled to a 3 1/4-length score over Make Note in the Times Square division. Javier Castellano was aboard as the colt earned his third win in four starts.
General Maximus ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.49, paying $3.60 to win.
Franny Freud, the 1-5 favorite, beat So N So by 7 3/4 lengths in the Park Avenue for fillies. Garrett Gomez guided her to a sixth win in nine starts. She paid $2.50 win. The time was 1:16.15.
