Racing jockey Coa in stable condition after fall
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A spokesman says racing jockey Eibar Coa is in stable condition but undergoing additional surgery after injuring his neck in a fall from his horse.
Coa's agent, Tito Fuentes, says the jockey is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday on a broken wrist. He's expected to undergo surgery on his vertebrae later in the week.
The spokesman says Coa has movement in his hands and shoulders. Coa has feeling in his legs, though he's unable to move them.
Coa reached his 4,000th racing victory last year. He was injured in a spill after a race Friday that left another jockey, Paco Lopez, with an injured elbow.
