Rachel Alexandra bred to Curlin
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra has been bred to stablemate and two-time Horse of the Year Curlin.
Stonestreet Stable owners Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke say Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Horse of the Year, was bred to Curlin, the 2007 and 2008 Horse of Year, on Monday at Lane's End Farm.
Jackson and Banke purchased Rachel Alexandra after her record-setting win in the Kentucky Oaks then entered her in the Preakness, where she became the first filly in more than 80 years to win the second jewel of the Triple Crown. She was retired last September.
The result won't be known for some time. Jackson said he's excited about the possibilities of potential offspring from the two champions.
