R Betty Graybull wins the Big A's Ladies Handicap
NEW YORK (AP) - R Betty Graybull rallied from last to beat Quiet Giant, the 2-5 favorite, by three quarters of a length in the $100,000 Ladies Handicap on Saturday at Aqueduct.
As expected, Quiet Giant set the pace in her bid for a third straight stakes win at the Big A, and appeared to have it when she pulled clear at the top of the lane. R Betty Graybull took up the chase with Eddie Castro up and closed in determinedly for her eighth win in 21 starts. The 5-year-old gray bred in New York and trained by Linda White ran the 1 1-8 miles in 1:11.77.
R Betty Graybull paid $7.60, $2.70 and $2.20 as the 5-2 second choice. Quiet Giant returned $2.10 and $2.10. State Treasure paid $2.60 to show.
