Jockey Coa in good spirits after more surgery
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A spokesman says racing jockey Eiber Coa is resting comfortably after a second neck surgery.
Coa injured his neck and broke his wrist in a fall from his horse after a Feb. 18 race at Gulfstream Park.
Coa's agent, Tito Fuentes, said Friday that Coa was in good spirits after a 4 1/2-hour surgery Thursday on his C4 vertebrae.
Fuentes says the jockey can move his arms and has some movement in his feet. Coa first underwent neck surgery shortly after his fall. He also had surgery Monday on his wrist.
The Venezuela native reached his 4,000th racing victory last year. The Feb. 18 accident left another jockey, Paco Lopez, with an injured elbow.
