Horse of Year to run next at Saratoga
NEW YORK (AP) - The co-owner of Rachel Alexandra says his Horse of the Year will race next in the Personal Ensign Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 29.
Rachel Alexandra has rebounded from two second-place finishes with two victories this year and was declared ready to take on top-quality competition again.
Co-owner Jess Jackson said in a news release Friday that the timing is right and the 1 1/4-mile Personal Ensign will help prepare the 4-year-old filly for the Breeders' Cup in November.
Rachel Alexandra won the ungraded Lady's Secret by three lengths July 24 at Monmouth Park. The Personal Ensign is a Grade 1 race for fillies and mares.
Last year at Saratoga, Rachel Alexandra became the first filly to win the Woodward Stakes.
