Foiled Again wins Levy Memorial final at Yonkers
YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) -Superstar pacer Foiled Again defended his title in the $460,000 final of Yonkers Raceway's George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series on Saturday night.
Jason Bartlett, the track's leading driver, drove his horse to the finish in 1:52 1/5 for his first victory in the event for older pacers. The series is named for the founder of Roosevelt Raceway, where the series started in 1978.
Mr. Wiggles started from the inside post position, made a break and scattered many of the horses. Foiled Again eventually took over the lead before the quarter-mile marker, and went on to defeat Litigator by a 1 1/4 lengths. Atochia was third.
Foiled Again, 6-year-old gelded son of Dragon Again, paid $5.40 as part of a coupled entry with Atochia for his fourth win in six races this season. His 38th career victory increased his lifetime earnings to $1,420,273.
