Five Grand Girl wins Big A's Am Capable
NEW YORK (AP) - Five Grand Girl, the even-money favorite, extended her winning steak to three with a two-length victory over Speightful Affair on Friday in the $58,800 Am Capable Stakes for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
Ramon Dominguez guided the 5-year-old trained by Rick Dutrow to her eighth win in 11 starts. The time was 1:39.50 for the one mile.
Five Grand Girl paid $4, $2.80 and $2.10. Speightful Affair returned $3.50 and $2.30. Super Espresso paid $2.10 to show.
Aqueduct was able to operate normally, one day after a construction accident forced the track to cancel the Thursday card. Workers building the new onsite casino had unintentionally severed a cable that carried wagering information and video feeds.
