Line: Boise State by 4.

Series record: Boise State leads 1-0-0

Last meeting: 2008, Boise State, 37-32.

A lot, especially for the Broncos. It seems like a broken record, but again the BCS busting dreams of Boise State will be largely determined by how they do against the Ducks. Win, and the rest of Boise State's schedule could become a march toward a January 2010 bowl game with a huge payout. Lose, and the Broncos are resigned to playing for another WAC title. It's being called the biggest home game in Broncos history and the Ducks would love noting more than to dance on the blue turf. Last season's 37-32 Boise State win in Eugene included a couple of hits the Ducks felt were questionable, one that knocked Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli from the game.

Oregon RB LaGarrette Blount vs. Boise State's linebackers. On a team loaded with youth - with only two senior starters - one of the biggest question is how BSU linebackers Derrell Acrey and Aaron Tevis will handle the bruising Blount. He's agile and elusive at 240 pounds.

Oregon: Blount. He was a backup last year and still rushed for more than 1,000 yards. What will he do when given the bulk of the carries?

Boise State: QB Kellen Moore. Will there be a sophomore slump for the WAC freshman of the year, who went 12-1 in his first season? The undersized lefty won't have the comfort of an experienced offensive line - including freshman right tackle Michael Ames protecting his blindside.

Boise State opens next season against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field and will receive $1.25 million for the game. ... Chip Kelly is just the third coach at Oregon since 1977. ... Oregon scored a combined 162 points the final three games of 2008.

Line: Utah by 20 1/2.

Series record: Utah leads 76-28-4.

Last meeting: 2008, Utah 58-10.

Utah takes a 14-game winning streak - longest in the nation - into the season opener and is trying to capitalize on last year's 13-0 season. Having won the last 11 in the series, another Utes' victory over the Aggies will gain little attention. A loss, however, and the Utes will get plenty of notice. Utah State is opening under new coach Gary Andersen, who was Utah's defensive coordinator until he was hired by the Aggies last winter.

Utah QBs Terrance Cain or Jordan Wynn vs. Andersen's revamped defense. Although Cain was expected to start the opener, Andersen's game plan won't change no matter who is taking the snaps for the Utes. Cain is a junior college transfer and Wynn a freshman, so Andersen's new defense will attack and try to fluster whichever QB is making his debut.

Utah State: QB Diondre Borel. Borel led the Aggies in both rushing and passing last season and will be running new offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin's spread attack for the first time.

Utah: RB Matt Asiata. The 230-pound running back averaged nearly 5-yards per carry last season and can take a lot of pressure off Utah's rookie quarterbacks by establishing a strong running game quickly.

The Utes and Aggies have met every year since 1944, but this will be the last meeting until 2012. The schools agreed to suspend the series to allow Utah to change its schedule and play at Notre Dame next season. ... Andersen is a Utah graduate and coached at his alma mater for 11 years.
