Receiver Julio Jones set for foot surgery
Former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones will have a pin inserted to repair a stress fracture in his foot on Saturday.
Agent Jimmy Sexton said Wednesday that the injury was discovered two days before the likely first-round draft pick's scheduled workout at the NFL combine.
Jones still not only participated but ran the 40 in 4.39 seconds and turned in a combine-best 11-foot, 3-inch broad jump.
Sexton said recovery should take 6 to 8 weeks. He said there was no need for Jones to participate in Alabama's pro day next Wednesday after the combine performance, anyway.
Sexton says, “There's nothing else he can do that he hasn't done at the combine. He had a great workout, great 40, great vertical.”
Robert Anderson will perform the surgery in Charlotte, N.C.
