Forward Ater Majok leaves Connecticut
STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut forward Ater Majok has withdrawn from school after playing just 26 games for the Huskies.
The school made the announcement Wednesday. No reason was given.
The 6-foot-10 Majok is a former refugee from Sudan who came to UConn from Australia, where his family had relocated after spending years in an Egyptian refugee camp.
He enrolled at UConn in 2008, but questions about his academic qualifications left him ineligible to play before last fall.
Majok entered his name into the 2009 NBA draft before later pulling out.
He averaged just over two points and three rebounds as a freshman for the Huskies.
